Aluminium sliding fire doors are the perfect solution for fire separation. in facilities with high traffic, such as shopping centres, stations, schools, hospitals and other public buildings. They are also used in places where it is necessary to optimise the space within the door leaf operation. Sliding fire doors, whose leaves open and close linearly, perfectly replace hinged doors, the leaves of which require a free space on the hinge side to open. There are no communication barriers in the lower edge of the sliding door thanks to the positioning of the floor parts of the guides outside the door passageway. The sliding fire doors are available in single or double-leaf versions.
The construction of sliding fire doors
ensures smooth sliding of the door leaves, optimal cooperation of the leaves with the guides, and an appropriate way of adhering the leaves to the frame. Sliding doors are made of three-chamber aluminium profiles with a thermal break made of polyamide reinforced with glass fibre. The profiles are reinforced with stainless steel fasteners, and their chambers are filled with a fireproof insulation insert. The surface of the profiles is chromated and then varnished in colours according to the RAL palette.
The filling of the sliding door leaves can be a fireproof panel in the colour of the woodwork or glass in the appropriate fire resistance and insulation class. The filling is fixed in the sliding door leaves with the use of steel handles, and an expanding gasket is placed around the perimeter between the filling and the leaf profiles. EPDM clips and glazing gaskets are used on both sides of the filling. In the upper edge of the sliding fire door, slings are screwed to connect with the electric drive and to adjust the position of the leaves. In the closed position, the sliding door leaves are sealed at the point of contact with the frame with brush seals, and a brush seal is also installed in the lower edge of the door frame.
The equipment of sliding fire doors
is characterised by a high level of safety, quality and trouble-free operation. In addition to the well-thought-out, solid structure of the leaves and the frame of the sliding door, a very important element is the electric drive adapted to the weight of the fire door, ensuring quiet, gentle and reliable leaf movement and meeting the highest safety requirements. A modern drive unit consisting of a transformer, motor and drivers is factory tested before the door is fitted to ensure high quality and reliable operation.
The multi-function programmer of the drive – i.e. the function switch – allows you to select the operating mode of the sliding door: automatic entry and exit, closed, exit, partial opening and permanent opening. The sliding door drive is equipped with a two-sided radar control that automatically activates the door leaf movement. It is complemented by devices ensuring safe use of the door, such as a radar-barrier or photocells installed at a height of 20 cm and 100 cm in the area of the door leaf operation. The sliding door drive is quite easy to use, enables quick and easy adjustment and, importantly, offers many years of trouble-free operation. One should remember about proper maintenance and periodic service inspections.
The use of sliding fire doors.
Places of installation of aluminium sliding fire doors are primarily public utility buildings with special traffic, and thus a large number of opening and closing doors. Sliding fire doors can also be used in office and industrial buildings, where automatic opening combined with resistance and fire insulation play an important role. Fire-resistant aluminium sliding doors are produced in a single-leaf and double-leaf version, with maximum dimensions of 2,120 mm in width and 2,677 mm in height, as full or glazed. The door is finished with powder varnish in uniform colours according to the RAL palette or wood-like DECORAL. Fire resistant sliding doors blend in perfectly with modern interiors, and they do not differ visually from classless window and door constructions.
